Job Description:

Allstates Consulting Services is looking for a Network Technician to work with our partner in New York, NY who has experience with the following:

  • Racking and stacking of network devices
  • Cable patching
  • Physical layer troubleshooting
  • Installing and troubleshooting Cisco and Avaya IP phones

Position Details:

  • Hourly position based upon experience & skill level
  • Long term contract with possible contract extension or hire
  • Standard work hours: Friday to Monday 8pm to 7am
  • Location: Customer Site located in New York, NY 10036

Responsibilities:

  • The patching cabling between network equipment and customer s network
  • The installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet
  • The installation, troubleshooting and de-installing network equipment
  • Install/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)
  • Install, troubleshoot, and de-install Network General remote Sniffers
  • Complete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levels
  • Provide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure
  • Perform onsite call-through, data, voice, website and security testing
  • Perform back-up testing to ensure all systems are connected to the customer s network as directed
  • Support carrier testing of circuits
  • Power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoral

Requirements:

  • Must be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers.
  • Requires experience in working in communications closets
  • Must be able to perform rack and stack activities
  • Must be able to safely lift heavy objects
  • Must understand cable patching processes and procedures
  • Must be familiar with 66 Block and 110 Block cross connect procedures
  • Must have a basic knowledge of data communications networking.
  • Must be familiar with IP phone
  • Must be able to program Cisco phones
  • Must be able to install Avaya phones
  • Must be able to troubleshoot Avaya and Cisco phones

Experience and Education:

  • 3-5 years of experience in data communications
  • Must have a basic knowledge of Cisco Phones, switches and routers
  • Must have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred
  • Relevant experience working in a data center environment
  • Pre-made Fiber install and testing
  • Experience with fluke testers
