Salary: $29.22 HourlyLocation : LOUISVILLE, KYJob Type: Regular Full-TimeJob Number: 05562Department: Codes & RegulationsOpening Date: 09/19/2023Closing Date: ContinuousDescription ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Issues violation notices and prepares inspection reportsDiscusses inspections and code interpretations with the publicInspects electrical installations and residential and commercial structures year round to enforce compliance with electrical codes, regulations and ordinances Examples of Duties UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISIONSubmits reports of inspections and investigations, and recommends corrective actionsCollects and properly documents evidence of violations.Performs inspections to enforce electrical code and electrical permit regulations and ordinancesInspects electrical sites to assure proper operation of equipment and installations, determines reasons for malfunction and performs tests utilizing amp meters and volt probes to determine compliance with standardsIssues warnings and violations to citizens and businesses and serves citations regarding violations of electrical and safety codesAuthorizes the utility company to begin or resume electrical serviceDiscusses inspections, investigations and code interpretations with the public, electricians, engineers, builders and business officials to resolve code violations and problemsPrepares reports of findings, and compiles evidence should legal action be takenTestifies in court and at public hearingsPerforms related work Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED and have held a State of Kentucky Journeyman or a Master Electricians License for a minimum of five years or currently holds a State of Kentucky Electrical Inspector's LicenseEQUIVALENCYCurrently a registered professional electrical engineer engaged in the profession for at least three years.OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHAMust be on 24 hour callMust possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseMust be an Electrical Inspector General in the State of Kentucky or obtain within 120 days of employmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSMeets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related workWorks at locations with limited or difficult access including uneven terrainSpends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elementsSufficient vision is required to perform inspections Supplemental Information U31EOELouisville Metro Government is committed to providing our employees with the tools they need to lead a fit and healthy life.
