The MRI Safety Officer works regularly in the MRI suite to maintain an ongoing awareness of the clinical and operational practices of that service. The MRI Safety Officer coordinates closely with the MRI Medical Director (with whom resides final authority for all medical decisions concerning MRI), who may not regularly work within the MRI suite. As such, the MRI Safety Officer is the penultimate authority on safe practices within the MRI department and, in the absence of the MRI Medical Director, has authority over all practices within the MRI department as they relate to safety. The MRI Safety Officer/ Medical Imaging Technologist under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, the Manager, and Radiologist also performs technical procedures and assists in the clinical evaluation and care of the patients. The MRI Safety Officer/ Medical Imaging Technologist utilizes their specific modality to create diagnostic images and provide their patients with a safe positive experience.
Education:
+ Must be a graduate of an approved two-year AMA Radiologic Technology School and a high school graduate (high school +1). BA degree preferred, but not required. Formal advanced training helpful.
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
+ New York State Registration in Diagnostic Radiography or possess a limited permit to practice in the State of New York.
+ Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiologic Technology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
+ Possess MRSO Certification from the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety or obtain certification within one year of MRSO position acceptance.
+ Current BLS for Healthcare Provider, CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
Experience:
+ A minimum of five years-experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging preferred (MRI).

Salary Range: $28.99/hr - $51.61/hr
