Job Description: The Department of Mathematics, Computer and Information Sciences at SUNY Old Westbury seeks part-time Support Tutors who will work in the Math Learning Center to support students in Mathematics courses as assigned by the Director of the Center. The ideal candidate will have content knowledge of Statistics, Precalculus, and Calculus at a minimum, as well as experience working with students one-on-one and in groups. This part-time, hourly paid position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings. This is a ten (10) month, college-year obligation position.Requirements: Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated excellent person-to-person communication skills, a positive attitude, patience and dependability.
  • A strong desire to help students gain confidence and increase their competence in Mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or equivalent.
  • Teaching or tutoring experience in Mathematics.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring a culturally diverse student population.
