Materials Associate Level II - Allendale/Mahwah, NJ

Position Summary/ Objectives

The Materials Associate II will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations of the Materials Management department. The position will coordinate and perform a variety of inventory control tasks including shipping, receiving, cycle counting, storage, transportation, documentation, and material handling. The successful candidate will desire a high level of cross-training and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, dependability, maturity, and confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Always operates safely and responsibly.
  • Can operate forklift
  • Cross-trains across warehouse / materials mgmt. / final product shipping / inventory control / etc.
  • Receive and unload incoming materials and compare information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy of shipment. May process return shipments from customers.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for the inspection of incoming materials against order and specification for correctness and defects.
  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, unpack, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
  • Inspects shipments for damage or defects and records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Regularly performs cycle counts utilizing the MRP system and maintains accurate inventory of all materials (Finished Goods, Almost-Finished Goods, Raw materials, packaging components and general supplies).
  • Contact carrier to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of order.
  • Confer and correspond with carrier to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and non- conformance to specifications.
  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies.
  • Deliver materials and supplies to requisitioning dept. on time and with a high level of accuracy.
  • Seeks to be proactive to the needs of the manufacturing dept.
  • Assure accurate inventory counts and inventory balance information is maintained.
  • Strives to support adherence to daily production and shipping schedules.
  • Manage hazardous waste inventory and schedule waste pick-up.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and department operating procedures.
  • Keep the work area organized, clean, and free of clutter and debris.
  • Identify any problems or non-conformances relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

Education, Experience and Certification:

  • High School Diploma (or GED) or 3 years experience in a similar position
  • 2 Years Warehouse experience required
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimum supervision.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Solid computing skills
  • Ability to work stand up for extended periods of time.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
