Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARYThe Marketing Specialist is responsible for execution of the property's marketing efforts as directed by the Marketing Manager. Responsibilities include direct mail production and proofing, creation, and proofing of programing efforts, creative and copy creation/proofing/execution, and advertising purchasing and placement, as well as a variety of associated administrative and planning activities. The Marketing Specialist is responsible to ensure the employee is compliant with Internal Control Policy and Procedures, New York State Gaming Commission, and regulations including Responsible Gaming requisites.GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIESThe following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this class and are not all inclusive.
  • Responsible for assisting the Director of Marketing and Marketing Manager in the management of direct marketing efforts, Kiosk and Slot events, and Promotions
  • Maintains monthly Profit and Loss data, department checkbook, and tracking of department spending
  • Ensures all projects are completed in a timely fashion for it to be disseminated to the public
  • Attends department training and development as needed
  • Required to work closely with the Promotions and Entertainment teams as well as operations departments to ensure the correct information is being shared with the public for events and promotions
  • Required to participate in the review and approval process of all marketing material by proofreading for content (i.e., spelling and grammar) and correct images
  • Required to amend, revise, and re-develop campaigns in response to feedback from Marketing Department Team Members as well as New York Gaming Commission
  • Ensures content is being placed according to the current promotion via social media in a timely manner
  • Understands the markets that the casino services and its customers
  • Knowledge of traditional and digital media and developing advertising plans
  • Assists with developing the marketing plan and other required documents needed on a monthly and quarterly basis as requested by the Director of Marketing and Marketing Manager
  • Oversees the ordering and maintenance of off property advertising
  • Maintains good communication with Team Members and maintain a positive and professional work environment
  • Utilizes effective communication tools to ensure that consistent, accurate and timely information is provided through both the Marketing team and other departments
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY
  • The Marketing Specialist does not have any Supervisor Authority
SIGNATORY ABILITY
  • Complimentary Authorization
    • Limited Free Play, Match Play, Self-Comp, Cash - as approved by supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONSMust have ability to:
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, guests, and outside contacts
  • Required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Use all equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to computer keyboard
  • Interpret and follows through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces
JOB QUALIFICATIONSThe Marketing Specialist has excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Be able to focus on short-term and long-term commitments and stay abreast of a constantly changing advertising environment. Utilize traditional and non-traditional advertising to optimize performance of dollars. Effectively track and communicate results from advertising efforts. Ability to work with a computer, understand media plans, financial reports, produce annual budgets, and monthly Profit and Loss statements. Ability to lift 25 lbs. Possess exceptional review skills for grammar and content.COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino
  • Obtain required license(s)
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Responsible for taking the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco
  • Knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department
  • Knowledge of the property's programs to address problem gambling
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls
  • Responsible for taking the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management
  • Reports any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member that they have knowledge of
