Job Description:

Purpose of the position:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for enhancing manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials. Collaborating closely with the product development team, this role ensures quality (according to AS9100D standards), manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness of Kistler products using lean six sigma methodologies. The focus for this position lies on supporting machine shop and assembly personnel that manufacture our product lines of transducers.

Main Tasks:

  • Collaborate with R&D to optimize new and existing designs and processes for manufacture.
  • Design and implement necessary tools, fixtures, or equipment for production.
  • Develop lean cell layouts and workflows.
  • Participate in drawing reviews and FMEAs.
  • Maintain established products and corresponding infrastructure by ensuring accurate ERP data and production documentation (BOMs, routings, procedures, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges in assembly or machine shop, identifying root causes, implementing solutions, and monitoring effectiveness.
  • Identify improvement opportunities through lean manufacturing principles, including process automation.
  • Support machine shop for capital investments and tool selection.
  • Provide management with productivity metrics (e.g., throughput time, yields).
  • Provide documentation and training on assembly methods, test procedures, and production equipment to assembly technicians.
  • Ensure accuracy of bill of materials, routings, work instructions, and test procedures.

Requirements profile:

  • Bachelor s Degree from a four-year technical or engineering college or university.
  • 3+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Practical mechanical and basic electronics knowledge with hands on work experience required.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in team settings and handle criticism and conflict constructively.
  • Self-driven with the capability to work independently and take ownership of daily tasks and projects.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and analyzing a variety of situations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Project management software (Clarity), CAD software (SolidWorks), and MRP/ERP (SAP) systems.
