Description Position at MTA Headquarters JOB TITLE: Manager, Materials Management & Reporting SALARY RANGE: $110,000.00 - $119,000.00 HAY POINTS: 519 DEPT/DIV: Procurement, Material Management & Distribution SUPERVISOR: Director, Materials Management & Reporting LOCATION: 2 Broadway, New York NY 10004 HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (7 1/2 hours/day) DEADLINE: This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire. SUMMARY: This position will manage the inventory management processes and data of our 300K item stock catalog across all MTA agencies. Serves as a functional expert in material planning, maintenance, supply chain and inventory management systems including policies and procedures, liaising with IT to provide business requirements to enhance our planning and inventory management systems. The Materials Management and Reporting Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of materials and inventory reporting of all supply chain data and may be inclusive of all MTA Agencies. Oversees a team that supports this function. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works with multiple stakeholders at all MTA Agencies for warehousing, procurement, and inventory reporting and functionality purposes. Analyzes data sets and makes recommendations to departmental management.
  • Works with multiple stakeholders on data relative to inventory dynamics for all Agencies reporting requirements. Analyzes data sets and makes recommendations to departmental management.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manages key performance indicators (KPIs) for materials management and reporting, monitoring progress and taking action to address any issues. Analyzes KPIs, uses dashboards and makes recommendations to departmental management.
  • Manages the 300K+ item inventory stock catalogue utilized by all MTA agencies to support material flow and supply chain management. Functions as first-level escalation for issues related to the catalogue and provides recommendations to departmental management regarding possible resolutions.
  • Support evolving catalogue consolidation opportunities for all MTA agencies and assist in developing a unified commodity structure.
  • Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Provide input regarding the discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review staff performance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Working knowledge of Warehousing Operations / Business and Supply Chain Systems.
  • Familiarity with visualization tools, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Excellent Microsoft suite skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible.
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrate independent initiative, leadership, and management skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Public Policy, Industrial engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; and
  • Minimum 4 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership abilities.
PREFERRED
  • An advanced degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with the MTA's policies and procedures.
  • Experience with the following system:
  • PeopleSoft
  • Commodity Management Systems (CMS)
  • Talon / Materials Management System (MMS)
  • Planner Initiated Expediting System (PIES)
  • Logical Inventory Management System (LIMS)
  • Maximo
