Job Description:

Natixis is searching for a director-level Loan Review Officer to join the New York team to help support the Managing Director and other team members in their various credit risk analysis and examination activities. This position is an opportunity to expand fundamental risk knowledge about multiple lending sectors, transactions structures, as well as contribute to the evolving loan review framework.

Loan Review s mandate covers credit and related trading and/or derivative exposures originated by and managed by various Front Office business units and Credit Risk Management, in Global Markets, Investment Banking, and Distribution and Portfolio Management. Loan Review performs comprehensive assessments of Natixis credit risk, reporting on the quality of risk and the effectiveness of the bank s risk management practices, adherence to policy and procedures, as well as compliance with regulatory guidance and application of market best practices.

The Loan Review function is an independent 3rd line control function that reports to the Head of Audit for the Americas, who in turns reports to the Natixis Chief Audit Officer in Head Office in Paris, France.

The primary responsibility will be to review all types of loan transactions to assess engagement in acceptable credit standards and lending activities that conform to the Natixis credit policy procedures. As a team effort, credits or processes should be reviewed based on experience and assistance of other Loan Review staff. Responsibilities include the following, at a minimum:

  • Conduct systematic reviews of credit portfolios to determine credit and loan performance, and adequacy of risk management.
  • Analyze the quality of credit risk analysis performed by participants in the credit approval process (Front Office, Workout, Credit Risk).
  • Review the current risk profile of credit exposures and validate assigned ratings, or if needed, recommend rating changes.
  • Propose and drive improvements to underwriting, portfolio management, and the credit approval processes.
  • Prepare Credit Assessment and Review reports and/or Loan Review reports.
  • Remain current on developments in assigned sectors and contribute to the department s continuous monitoring activities.
  • Participate in various meetings with Executive Management, Regulators, and at times, Paris Head Office.
  • Provide direction and mentor other loan review professionals on the team.
  • Work on ad hoc projects, as requested.
  • Complete at least 40 hours of training a year (seminars, webcasts) to enhance knowledge in specific sectors and areas of finance.

Requirments:

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited university/college.
  • 10+ year s credit experience required, either as part of the Front Office, Credit Risk, or Loan Review, and currently functioning in a director-level capacity.
  • Strong credit knowledge in some of the following lending activities: Aviation, Commodities, Energy, Leveraged Finance, Project Finance, Real Estate, or Securitization. Experience in Latin American credits is a plus.
  • Strong ability to interact with the Front Office and Credit Risk professionals, as well as effectively interact with regulators. While not required, credit experience as a regulator is a plus.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Accounting knowledge (coursework or practical experience) is a plus;
  • Knowledge of loan documentation fundamentals.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

The salary range for this position will be between $185,000 - $215,000. Natixis is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills set, applicable licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total rewards package. Natixis also offers a generous benefits package, and you may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award depending on company and individual performance.
