For over twenty-five years, LIFE has offered programs such as free and low-cost early education programs for low-income families across Brooklyn, NY.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Early Education Teacher in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY. The Lead Early Education Teacher will have day-to-day responsibilities including lesson planning, curriculum development, classroom management, communication with parents, and providing a welcoming learning environment, in compliance with EarlyLearn, UPK, and Article 47 of the DOHMH, as well as LIFE s mission and vision. This is an ideal role for a Lead Early Education Teacher that is passionate about working with low-income families or underserved communities and looking to have a positive impact on the lives on children.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development for early childhood education
  • Excellent Communication skills with families and coworkers
  • Knowledge of Kindergarten readiness and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Bachelor s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • State certification and/or licensing as a Early Education Teacher
  • Masters Certified
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency in community languages is a plus
  • Experience in working with low-income families or underserved communities

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Partner with LIFE Team to ensure we are maintaining a nurturing and engaging educational environment for all children
  • They must recognize the children s individual needs while preparing them for a successful transition into school age programs
  • Maintain proper coverage and implementation of LIFE and DOE guidelines
  • Must attend monthly trainings for teachers on up to date deliverables
  • Access and evaluate classrooms in CLASS and ECERS
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitizing practices and all health protocols are in accordance with guidelines
  • Take daily attendance
  • Research and offer innovative skills and tools to enhance your quality of teaching in the center
  • Create lesson plans and submit to director for review
  • Assist in developing and implementing individual educational plans for children with special needs
  • Assess and refer children with special needs to Director for further evaluation and potential services.
  • Enter data in Teaching Strategies Gold 3x per year
  • Stay up to date and maintain credentials and trainings
  • Understand and follow Article 47 of DOHMH and must ensure the health and safety of the children at all times
