That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.About the teamWe, too, are growing quickly around the world. Keeping Stripes everywhere informed, engaged, and aligned demands quality, thoughtfulness, empathy, and willingness to research and experiment. We are on the hunt for a superb writer to improve how we keep Stripes informed about important product and business decisions and milestones. You'll make sure Stripes feel connected to decisions and understand their role in aligning and reinforcing them. And you'll protect and enhance Stripe's culture while doing it.What you'll doAs a member of Stripe's global internal communications team, you'll partner closely with our President of Product and Business and senior leaders in his team to make sure every Stripe feels engaged, deeply informed, and excited about business and product decisions, milestones, and strategies. Stripe has a strong writing culture, and outstanding writing and synthesis will be a focus and strength of yours. The company is complex, cross-functional and highly multidisciplinary; you'll need to be fully immersed in the company strategy, operating model, and product suite, proactively filtering for what needs to be shared, and translating it across the Product and Business organization and the broader Stripe audience.Responsibilities
  • Create and own new written formats and channels for disseminating timely information from Product and Business leaders to managers and all Stripes using emails, blogs, and Slack; experiment with other formats (video, audio, live).
  • Ingest vast quantities of formal and informal information shared within leadership forums-data, documents, meeting notes, memos-to proactively filter for stories and updates deserving of a broader audience.
  • Advise Product and Business leadership on what, how, when and where to communicate updates; help them join the dots of day to day decisions to shape a compelling long-term narrative about Stripe's progress.
  • Partner closely with the broader internal communications team to ensure updates are being accurately and consistently cascaded via all our existing channels and live forums.
  • Track understanding of our strategy among Stripes; identify gaps or concerns; develop communications to meet these needs.
Who you areYou're an exceptional writer who thrives on wrapping your head around technical and operational complexity, and channeling it into clear, creative and engaging communications. You move with urgency, build deep, trusted relationships with senior leaders, operate autonomously, sourcing information and depth without direction, and hold an exceptionally high quality bar for yourself and the people you work with. We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum requirements
  • An exceptional writer with a particular talent for distilling technical, complex decisions and workstreams into simple, compelling narratives.
  • 5+ years of proven experience executing and leading in fast-changing, complex, and international organizations.
  • Experience working in a technology or software-oriented organization; and a deep understanding of the mechanics of these businesses (engineering and product-led processes and cultures, ship cycles, software economics)
  • Experience writing for a thoughtful, engaged, high agency audience.
  • A penchant for trusting your own reasoning from first principles more than how others have approached something in the past.
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and work with employees in all functions and at all levels, from interns to executives.
