As a member of the faculty of the Albany Medical College, Schaffer Library of Health Sciences, the Education and Outreach Librarian participates in providing library services that support patient care, education, and research at Albany Med.
Responsibilities include:
+ Creating and teaching educational sessions about library resources and services and related technologies, providing best practice recommendations.
+ Identifying opportunities and developing programs to engage faculty, staff, and students through education outreach and instruction.
+ Responding to information questions from in-person and remote users using library resources or other relevant appropriate sources.
+ Performing literature searches in library supported databases using appropriate strategies to produce concise meaningful results.
+ Ongoing development of expertise by participating in continuing education activities, including self-directed learning related to responsibilities.
+ Building relationships and promoting the value of library resources in research, education, and patient care activities at Albany Med.
+ Fostering the delivery of quality customer service and continually seeking to improve.
+ Participating in institutional and professional committees, activities, and services.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Masters degree in library or information Science from an ALA accredited program.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
+ Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
+ Strong service orientation.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of database searching.
+ Ability to provide in-person and remote instruction.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ One or more years of academic library experience, preferably in a health science library.
