Novellis Health is seeking a dedicated Infusion Nurse to join our Hematology and Medical Oncology team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing top-notch care and administering life-changing treatments to our patients. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 10am - 6:30pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician and nurse practitioner.
- Exhibit passion for and experience in Oncology patient care.
- Manage patients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses
- Duties will include administration of IV, and oral medications, vascular access device maintenance and monitoring, chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, blood administration, therapeutic phlebotomy, assessment of patient symptoms and the management of side effects, and over all collaboration on patient treatment plans.
- Mixing and administration of chemotherapy drugs.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families throughout treatment.
- Triages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- Current RN NY state license
- 2+ years of Clinical experience in an outpatient Oncology setting preferred
- 2+ years of peripheral IV experience
- Chemotherapy/biotherapy or OCN Certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
- Strong IV skills and experience with central lines.
- Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires sitting, walking, and standing.
