John Tillman Company, a division of Bunzl, is looking for a motivated territory sales representative that is high-energy, creative and organized. This person will exude passion in their presentations, moving customers to make purchasing decisions on our products. The Industrial Sales Representative will develop new business targets, while maintaining existing industrial accounts, such as Fastenal, MSC, Grainger and RS Hughes. This position is responsible for building customer relationships, handling all customer issues and inquiries and communicating effectively with all appropriate internal departments.

This position will be based in Texas and will require travel within the state, as well as to other states, when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop current business with welding distributors within the territory

  • Increase sales through greater penetration within existing accounts and industries, while also prospecting and building business with new accounts in the hardware, safety, industrial tool, contractor supply, and welding supply distribution channels

  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales and margin goals

  • Answer questions regarding products and their applications, delivery information and convert calls to sales

  • Introduce new products and programs

  • Train and educate inside and outside distributor sales people on the Tillman product line

  • Work with store managers on product merchandising

  • Conduct major line reviews once a year with key accounts including merchandising evaluation and recommendations

  • Attend local distributor open house, trade shows, and sales events where necessary

  • Communicate and cooperate in productive manner with all departments

Requirements:

  • High School diploma required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years sales experience handling small to large accounts with multiple locations

  • Industrial sales experience with key accounts

  • Requires self-motivation to work independently with minimal supervision, and willing to embrace products, industry and company culture

  • Requires outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work in a team setting with a diverse groups of employees, managers and external contacts

  • Outstanding analytical, organizational and communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Ability to travel overnight generally twice per month visiting accounts
