Job Description:

Purpose of the position:

As an HR Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and productive work environment. Your responsibilities will revolve around effectively resolving workplace conflicts, implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues, and managing the recruitment process to attract top talent. You will serve as a mediator, advisor, and recruiter, ensuring that our organization maintains a harmonious atmosphere while continuously enhancing its workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Address employee concerns and issues in a timely and confidential manner, upholding fairness, and equity in all interactions.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement in employee relations.
  • Proactively identify and address workplace conflicts, fostering open communication and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering development, coaching, and/or disciplinary feedback.

2. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies accordingly.
  • Source, screen, and interview candidates using a variety of recruitment methods, ensuring a diverse and qualified talent pool.
  • Manage the entire recruitment process, from job posting to offer negotiation, ensuring a seamless and positive candidate experience.
  • Facilitate on-campus recruiting and support early talent internship program development.

3. HR Administration & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR/personnel records.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, staying abreast of changes and updates in HR best practices.
  • Assist with other HR functions as needed, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and policy development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in HR roles with a focus on conflict resolution and recruitment.
  • Strong understanding of New York state employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in ADP, SAP SuccessFactors or other HRIS system and MS Office Suite.
