Job Description:

Summary

Responsible for the Human Resources functions at the New York locations. This includes workday onboarding, administration of policies, contract and grievance administration, and all activities that affect positive, plant-wide employee relations.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • A liaison and trusted advisor to H&V employees and management in our New York location.
  • Processes the weekly hourly payroll for both New York locations. Submits weekly details to corporate payroll processing.
  • Keeps NY Employee/Job HRIS systems current and up to-date with staffing and payroll changes.
  • Workday Administration
  • Responsible for all onboarding aspects of the Workday system for HR. Includes inputting new hires and maintaining the upkeep of all employee data.
  • Provide reporting on allowed/taken, attendance points, staffing headcounts.
  • Responsible for the hourly staffing process by proactively and continually sourcing, interviewing, developing, and maintaining an effective candidate pipeline and network of talent to fill NY Plant positions. Involved in all aspects of the hiring process: sourcing of applicants, participating in interviews, processing background checks, conducting new employee orientations, and managing new hire benefit enrollments.
  • Advise, guide and support employees in areas of policy, procedure, and employee relations. Investigate employee issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Participate in the development of company policies and make sure they are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain employee records and appropriate statistics/data required to comply with company policy, state, and federal laws.
  • Locally manages the internal aspects of the Workers Compensation and Disability programs. Maintains employee medical files.
  • Maintains data and completes annual reports including yearly Affirmative Action Plan (AAP); yearly Workers Compensation Self-Insured report; and yearly NYS Health Care Reform Act (HCRA). Other reports as needed.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate within the department and with other HR locations.
  • Participate in the JLMC meetings.
  • Support and participate in union negotiations.
  • Assist in contract interpretation and administration. Function as the second step in the grievance procedure process, when HR Manager is not available.
  • Support company programs such as outreach, community relations and recruitment.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor s Degree plus 5+ years of Human Resources experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including employee relations, performance management, succession management, engagement, workforce planning, diversity, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Experience in a union environment preferred, experience in a manufacturing a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • This position is onsite at our NY location.
