Role Description
Fareportal is looking for a Head of Data, Associate Vice President to lead our newly restructured data organization responsible for the curation, quality and management of the firm s business and research datasets, the creation of reusable data products and the evolution of Data Science (Machine Learning, AI, Statistical Research) etc. In partnership with the Head of Product, Head of Technology and Business Leaders this individual is responsible for leading the evolving Data strategy at the firm and managing the execution of the group to achieve the expected business outcomes. This role will place the individual at the very center of advanced Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in the travel industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of Fareportal s Data Organization including Data Governance, Data Platforms, Data Engineering, Data Visualization (i.e., Business Analytics and Insights) and Data Science (Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science).
- Manage a interdisciplinary group of Technologists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists including career development and performance management.
- Create a data-centric culture across the entire organization where everyone aspires to become a great Data Citizen.
- Lead the conversation and set the strategy for Data Innovation in the travel industry partnering with Product Management and other Business Leaders to actively seek out new business opportunities through the application of amazing data science capabilities.
- Lead the transformation of the Data Organization to be a data driven, data product, data platform enabled to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and speed of innovation and delivery.
- Own the transformation of our Web Analytics/Clickstream architecture and the introduction of a new rules based interactional attribution model to enable next gen customer interaction analysis and machine learning.
- Partner with the Product and Engineering organization to ensure to maximize the value from our data through our client facing products and services.
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience leading data driven innovation:
- Amazing track record of inspiring organizations to innovate and turning imaginative ideas into reality.
- Ability to transcend levels and be a hands-on coach and manager with your own organization and an inspirational senior leader working with the rest of the firm.
- Ability to act as a bridge between business, product and finance leaders and be a champion of data across the organization and encourage embedding great data practices and capabilities in their strategies, roadmaps, and vision.
- Proven track record of delivering data services that materially change business outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading data driven innovation in a data science (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantitative-Statistics) environment.
- Experience leading data driven innovation within a travel-related or an online retail consumer environment.
