Job Description:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and light maintenance tasks and services throughout assigned property.
  • Clean and sanitize shared facilities and common spaces. Inspect, clean and re-stock public bathrooms daily.
  • Clean offices, playrooms, and daycare rooms daily.
  • Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and buff common area floors as directed.
  • Clean residential units when vacated and inform the Superintendent of needed repairs. Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
  • Clean windows, vents, fans, all fixtures, fire equipment and furnishings on a regular basis and inform the Superintendent of needed repairs.
  • Empty trash containers. Bag and remove garbage/refuse to collection point in accordance with NYC Sanitation requirements.
  • Assist in accepting deliveries, unpacking, and stocking shelves.
  • Examine property for safety hazards and report problems to the Superintendent or other appropriate staff.
  • Ensure that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked as needed.
  • Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations.
  • Report to the Superintendent and/or Program Director regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough ability to perform housekeeping tasks and operate equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Ability to keep the property clean and orderly.
  • Ability to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with people of diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds. Courteous demeanor toward staff, customers, clients, and visitors to the property.
  • Must be a responsible individual with a reputable character, known to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work well under pressure and demonstrate a calm manner during crises.
  • Acknowledge and application of self-care and work-life balance for self and others.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The physical demands of the job include standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
  • Able to travel between sites throughout NYC.
  • Able to work outdoors in adverse conditions (heat or cold)
