Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for the role, General Counsel.
LOCATION: Plainview, NY - In-Office Required (NOT remote or hybrid)
Job Purpose
The General Counsel will serve as the company s sole in-house counsel and oversee all of the company s legal matters as well as provide legal advice to its operations and management teams. The General Counsel will be required to provide legal advice on a multitude of different legal issues to the Company s C-suite executives and supervise, communicate and direct outside legal counsel. Some of the main responsibilities include reviewing and writing various legal contracts, negotiating, and managing client vendor contracts and ensuring overall legal compliance in the areas of employment, corporate compliance, tax, real estate, intellectual property, insurance and product liability.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Advising c-suite on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that would impact functionality of the business.
- Overseeing the legal matters of the business, including acting as the Company s legal representative.
- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, outside legal, public authority, vendors, etc.), creating relations of trust.
- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company s full legal rights are protected.
- Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation and relevant regulations.
- Maintaining knowledge of the company s legal documents and operations
- Crafting and reviewing legal strategy in response to any litigation.
- Keeping a record of all legal documents and proceedings for the company
- Facilitating filings of licensing forms and other statutory requirements
- Communicating with outside counsel
- Legally filing for copyright of intellectual property
- Ensuring corporate compliance and preparation of relevant legal documents
Additional Information
- 10+ years of experience
- Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 depending on experience
- Full-Time, in person
- Hours: 9am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday
- Location: Plainview, NY
