**Job Summary**

Furniture Sales Consultants at Martin Furniture & Mattress are knowledgeable in sales, and product knowledge. They provide information on product features, explain how those features impact the customers experience, and they recommend related options to complete an entire project to the customers standards. They follow up on details related to furniture and mattress orders and installation. They are interested and engaged in the world of design and current trends.

Furniture Sales Consultants are responsible for building relationships with customers, co-workers and manufacturers. They are the face of Martin Furniture & Mattress and are expected to conduct business in a professional way that honors our legacy and mission.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

The successful Furniture Sales Team Member will possess a great attitude and a servants heart. We believe that the technical features and benefits of the products are important to know and explain. We expect that you will maintain up-to-date knowledge about furniture, mattresses, design and decorating concepts. Your professional demeanor and attitude also play a tremendous part in the fit that you will be on the team. We are looking for a Team Member who can work within the team but also take initiative independent of direct supervision.

Our goal for you is to be considered a Trusted Advisor to our customers rather than an order taker, determining customer needs by focused questioning and discovery of the best solution for the customer. Cross selling of related products that fit with the customers vision is a part of the Furniture Sales Team Members day along with informing customers of current promotions and special opportunities.

Being a Trusted Advisor also requires empathy and tact, especially when faced with a challenging situation. Good communication skills are essential when dealing with customers as well as other Team Members who might be in different locations. You will create and contribute to positive working relationships with manufacturers and other team members to achieve sales goals.

This position will require working a variety of hours that may include early mornings, weeknights and Saturdays and at certain times, extra hours beyond the normal schedule. We will not require you to work any overnight or Sunday shifts.

Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

**Competencies**

You can read and write English and perform basic math functions that would commonly be found in a retail sales environment. Your interpersonal skills are great; you can read, write and otherwise communicate effectively with Managers, Team Members and customers.

The successful candidate can use a computer, tablet or smartphone to send emails, order online products and are comfortable using these pieces of technology. You can also operate copiers, scanners and other forms of technology commonly found in an office.

You are enthusiastic, friendly and energetic and possess a genuine desire to provide outstanding service and have done this in previous positions in which you have served.

You are comfortable in a professional environment. You are organized and can multi-task, handling the needs of customers as well as being flexible to the needs of the company.

**Physical Demands**

This position involves constant moving, talking, listening, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. You may occasionally need to stoop, kneel, crouch, travel up and down stairs and be able to lift up to 40 pounds. You will move around the sales floor much of the day and sit at a desk with a computer for the research portion of your sales process.
