Job Description: This position's responsibilities include:
  • Escort the Fire Inspector during fire inspections on both campuses.
  • Ensure that all inspection violations are corrected with the specified time frame set forth by the Fire Inspector.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of all buildings on both campuses for Fire and Building Code violations.
  • Conduct fire and emergency evacuation drills as required.
  • Respond to fire alarms.
  • Coordinate with vendors on inspections, installation, and repair of fire alarms and sprinkler systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors for refilling and inspection of fire extinguishers.
  • Complete monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Complete monthly inspections of all emergency lights, exit lights, eyewash/shower stations and AED's.
  • Enter work orders for all non-properly functioning Fire and Life Safety equipment and ensure that the repairs are completed.
  • Consult with contractors on all fire and life safety code issues for construction and/or renovations.
  • Serve as the Campus Code Enforcement Officer, which is responsible for calculating and posting of occupancies for all areas as needed and issuing permits.
  • Responsible for new/updated emergency evacuation postings as needed.
  • Assist the EH&S Manager with any other safety programs including, but not limited to Hot Work, Confined Space, ADA compliance, etc.
  • Coordinate vehicle safety and compliance training
  • Ensure campus PPE is properly fitted and that the supply is stocked to accommodate campus needs.
PM18 *** Requirements:
  • A Bachelors Degree in related field of Fire or Life Safety with two years of full-time experience or an Associates Degree with at least four years of full-time experience.
  • Certification in Building Codes is preferred, but not required for application. If the successful candidate does not already have the certification, they will be required to obtain it.
  • During emergencies and/or fire alarm issues, this position may be required to report to work after hours. This position should be reachable at off hours via telephone.
  • The ability to climb many stairs where elevators are not available.
