About the Company Hiring: Our client is a successful WNY manufacturer with international operations experiencing continuous growth.

About the Job: The Field Service Technician (FST) performs installation, commissioning, and repair work at customer sites. They troubleshoot problems arising in the equipment to identify root cause so it can be returned to normal operating parameters. During installation and commissioning of new equipment they work to ensure results meet or exceed performance standards and that customers are trained and satisfied.

  • Troubleshoot and fix equipment either at our facility or by traveling to the customer's location.
  • Deploy and activate new equipment at customer sites.
  • Conduct tests and calibrations to ensure equipment meets minimum performance standards.
  • Offer phone, email, and text support to assist customers with troubleshooting and training.
  • During non-field periods, engage in equipment assembly and testing in the shop to support manufacturing or other qualified shop tasks.
  • Oversee, guide, delegate, and manage shop employees, especially those on customer sites, ensuring accountability for the work they handle.
  • Recognize opportunities for ongoing improvement in equipment and processes, delivering well-organized feedback to the company.
  • Prepare and distribute necessary reports promptly.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma, Advanced vocational degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industrial equipment industry
  • Experience traveling to perform service or installations preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics
  • Advanced computer skills preferred, such as; PC OS/admin, installing/repairing networks, and similar skills.
  • Experience using one or more of the following tools: lathe, milling machine, drill press, and/or vertical/horizontal cut off saw.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude, preferably with heavy machine building experience.
  • Advanced hydraulic and/or electrical installation and/or repair experience preferred.
  • Basic rigging experience. Advanced experience with large outdoor lifts preferred.
  • Clean safety record. Certifications and advanced training preferred.
  • Ability to calculate and acquire dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Basic working knowledge of PLC s. Advanced experience and basic programming abilities preferred.

When not in the field:

  • Perform equipment assembly and test in the shop to support manufacturing and/or any other work in the shop for which they are qualified
  • **Technical cross-training, safety, and travel flexibility are fundamental requirements of the position**

Salary: $26 - $32/hour + 5% annual bonus AND guaranteed annual cost of living increase + strong benefits package.

Work Style: Onsite M-F

Hours: 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Travel:

  • Ability to travel frequently (>50%), sometimes with short notice, and potentially long durations.
  • Ability to leave the country.
