Pastel is a childrens and teens direct to consumer brand with various locations in the tristate area. We are focused on quality, whimsy, and detail with a European influence. The Design Associate will support the overall functions of the Design/Merchandising/Product development teams and bring design ideas to life.

**Responsibilities**

* Create CADs quickly and efficiently

* Measure and Catalog sample as they arrive

* Attend Fit and Design Meeting and take notes of all changes

* Maintain & organize the fabric library

* Understanding product options as well as the logic of turn times to help meet merchandising deadlines and customer needs

* Prepare line sheets and order forms for sales department using knowledge of the product

* Work as a team with designers and technical design to assure all techpack requirements are communicated properly and thoroughly so development process runs smooth

* Understand time and action calendars-work with production to assure deadlines are met

* Must be creative, have a sense of color, fashion, and an eye for graphic design as well as merchandising collections

* Have a good understanding of printing techniques, and product development

* Must have problem solving and decision-making skills and a thorough understanding of the process (why we do what we do) as well as the ability to anticipate, and to see around corners.

* Communicate directly with overseas vendors

**Required experience**

* Bachelors degree

* Minimum 2 years of Apparel or related industry

* Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft office

* Strong knowledge of fabric qualities

* Extremely organized, detailed and accurate

* Proactive and possess the ability to meet tight deadlines

* Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong prioritizing and problem-solving skills

* Experience working with overseas vendors
