Job Description:
Principal Responsibilities:Title: Maintenance & Facilities DirectorReports to: Chief Operating OfficerSchedule: Sunday-ThursdayThe Binghamton JCC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Maintenance & Facilities Director to oversee the maintenance and upkeep, mechanical operation, and overall aesthetic appearance and safety of the JCC's 60,000 square foot facility on 8-acres of land.This role offers the chance to lead a dedicated team and support the COO with capital improvement plans to align with organizational objectives.Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervises, trains, and oversees all maintenance and custodial staff.
  • Provides direction on work prioritization and coordination to maintenance staff to ensure all opening/closing, cleaning, room set-ups and breakdowns, repairs, and grounds maintenance and upkeep are done promptly.
  • Act as a liaison to all departments for prioritizing and meeting maintenance and facility needs.Foster collaborative working environment with all departments.
  • Vendor Management
  • Oversight of outside contractors including all maintenance contracts, developing vendor relationships, soliciting bids, and negotiating agreements.
  • Oversee the tracking of equipment under warranty and negotiate service contracts with equipment suppliers, anticipating upgrades and repairs as necessary.
  • Oversee annual inspections and licenses.
  • Building Maintenance
  • Ensure efficient operation of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and more.
  • Ensure all facilities and equipment meet local, state, and national codes and regulations.
  • Implement a robust preventative maintenance program.
  • Be available to be on call whenever building emergencies arise.
  • Administrative
  • Track short-term and long-term facility expenses, equipment and resource needs of company and staff.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, forecast costs, and contribute to financial planning to keep our center running smoothly without fiscal surprises.
  • Additional
  • Attend and provide support at JCC-wide events including, but not limited to: Purim Carnival, Gala, Open Houses, etc.
  • Maintain 8-acre grounds at the JCC including snow and salt removal, landscaping, etc.
  • Other duties as needed to provide support for overall operations of the JCC.

Minimum Qualifications:Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior leadership facilities role.
  • Valid driver's license and experience utilizing a truck for snow removal.
  • Problem solving, analytical, and time management skills with experience leading capital improvements.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Pool operations and maintenance are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of procurement and contracts.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new software systems.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
