  • Provide environmental technical expertise for construction projects and operational assets.
  • Manage company environmental compliance, reporting, monitoring, and remediation, auditing, licensing, and permitting activities.
  • Assess impact of environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and utility affiliates.
  • Support root cause analysis of environmental events and develop corrective action plans.
  • Develop environmental corrective action plans and response programs.
  • Identify potential environmental risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Manage potential issue resolution and safeguard the company from reputational risks.
  • Perform necessary due diligence for construction projects and operational assets.
  • Interface with federal, state, and regional environmental agencies.
Environmental Compliance and Reporting:
  • Prepare clear and concise environmental-related documentation including, but not limited to, permits, reports, certificates, and inspection records in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all on-site operations comply with all regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
  • Support the organization's spokesperson on environmental issues to regulatory agencies, including but not limited to EPA, New York PSC, NYS DEC, NYC DEP, USACE, and FERC.
  • Communicate environmental objectives and statistics based on key performance indicators ( KPI) and company standards.
Permitting and Impact Assessments:
  • Interface with environmental consultants, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and contractors on all permitting strategies and activities.
  • Prepare and manage environmental permit applications, environmental documentation, Environmental Management and Construction Plans ( EM&CP), Stormwater Prevention Plans ( SWPP), and State Environmental Quality Review Act ( SEQRA) documentation.
  • Perform and oversee environmental studies to evaluate the potential impact of proposed electric transmission construction projects, which may include impacts on wetlands, land use, biodiversity, or other issues.
  • Manage long-term environmental requirements stipulated in permit approvals.
  • Promote a culture of high standards and ethical behavior in all environmental activities.
Incident Preparedness and Response:
  • Address environmental incidents, such as oil spills and chemical releases, through comprehensive root cause analysis and contingency planning.
  • Develop and implement detailed environmental corrective action strategies, including spill plans and response programs.
What You Bring:
  • More than five years of professional experience working on environmental permitting and planning for transmission line projects under New York State Article VII and Part 102.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with applying environmental compliance and permitting regulations set forth by relevant regulatory bodies, including the New York PSC, NYSDEC, EPA, USACE, and FERC.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and offer direction to leadership and team members, ensuring rigorous quality control/quality assurance ( QA/QC) methods.
  • Established expertise in Article VII Application and EM&CP, encompassing management of Article VII and Part 102, NYSDEC Freshwater Wetlands Program, EM&CP filing, and USACE federal permitting.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills that build and maintain relationships across stakeholders, utility affiliates, and company members.
  • Extensive aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving, crucial for deriving conclusions from test results, organizing data, and pinpointing the most efficient solutions to achieve project objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field of study required.
  • Master's degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field of study is highly desired.
  • Contract negotiations and management experience is highly desired.
