Job Description:

**MUST be within daily commutable distance to job location - Upton, NY**

Typical Duties:

  • Review, understand and comply with all objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards in accordance with the Employee Handbook, Corporate Best Practices, SOPs, and the Howell Corporate HASP.
  • Provide administrative and technical direction and provide updates on all corporate safety and health programs, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide assistance to division, project, and department management personnel to ensure compliance with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Provide technical and administrative direction to onsite safety personnel.
  • Assist with investigation of all accidents, incidents, and major property or equipment damage.
  • Perform jobsite inspections and prepare reports.
  • Review safety documentation/reports for accuracy and completeness. Ensure required documents are prepared in accordance with AHJs regulations.
  • Organize and implement safety programs for new projects.
  • May act as company representative on issues relating to environmental protection concerns. Interfaces as necessary with environmental regulatory agencies and audits project site compliance with environmental protection requirements.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Safety Director.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

Educational and experience requirements may include:

  • 4-year degree in occupational safety/health or equivalent.
  • Advanced training/degree in occupational safety/health or equivalent.
  • Advanced training/degree in management preferred.
  • May have a New York City Site Safety Manager s License.
  • Extensive experience, at least 6-10 years, and knowledge of construction and/or industrial safety requirements, plus thorough understanding, and ability to enforce all AHJs.
  • Ability to investigate/analyze critical situations in a non-emotional manner vital.
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills essential.
  • Must be proficient with software including Microsoft Office and Procore.
  • Must comply with Howell safety training requirements.
