Woodard & Curran offers a unique opportunity to join our Northeast Fiscal Solutions Team. This hybrid position is attached to our Rye Brook, New York office. The Specialist will provide funding services to municipal clients throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States, specifically focusing on New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Virginia. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter and a professional with a proven track record of helping clients identify and secure alternative financing for infrastructure projects. The selected candidate will work with Woodard and Curran engineers, planners, and subject matter experts to help clients find available and suitable state and federal opportunities to subsidize the cost of local projects.

Who are we looking for:

Woodard & Curran has an exciting opportunity that will allow you to directly impact how we serve our clients by assisting them with obtaining funds to support their projects! The Fiscal Specialist s primary responsibility is identifying and pursuing state and federal funding for infrastructure, community development, and economic development projects supporting our engineering practices. You will work collaboratively with municipal and other strategic client managers to identify funding opportunities and develop grant and loan applications/proposals to secure grant and loan dollars for projects involving water supply/treatment, wastewater systems, stormwater systems, community development, economic development, brownfields, hazard mitigation, etc. This position offers an opportunity to play a significant role in the project finance/funding process for an exciting division of our organization that delivers projects to public and private clients nationwide!

Location: Rye Brook, NY - Hybrid - in office 1 - 2 days a week.

Travel: Periodic client meetings, conferences, and training in Rye Brook, NY.

What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:

  • Under general direction, work with clients and Client Managers to identify environmental and economic development loan and grant-eligible projects with regional, state, and federal resources and develop, review, and edit loan and grant applications.
  • Guide potential funding opportunities from conception through the application process and, if awarded, through implementation and administration.
  • Interact with stakeholders involved in loan and grant-funding activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of particular areas involved in identifying and soliciting grants.
  • Provide direct client guidance and input on various potential projects and funding applications.
  • Prepare capital, operational, and other strategic plans, amendments, and revisions for municipal clients.

What You Will Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor s degree in Planning, Economics, Public Policy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public or Business Administration, or related fields.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in planning various types of projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of water resources planning, community development, economic development, and/or municipal capital project planning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the grant application writing process, including data gathering and research.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NYS, CDBG, US EDA, USDA, SRF and/or related funding programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tools and resources to calculate economic benefits/job creation resulting from capital improvement projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with the laws, rules, and regulations regarding public procurement practices and other federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Working understanding of the Engineering and Environmental fields.
  • Ability to convey basic engineering topics, issues, and data to various audiences.

$100,000 - $135,000 a year

This position s anticipated pay range is provided above; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
