JD Ross are currently working with a major utility scale solar developer currently looking for bring on an Environmental Compliance Specialist for a three-year project-based opportunity in upstate New York.
We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist with a strong background in energy infrastructure/construction and a preference for agricultural experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing environmental compliance across all phases of our utility-scale solar projects, ensuring all activities adhere to local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive environmental reviews and assessments for utility-scale solar projects, identifying potential environmental impacts and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Develop, implement, and oversee environmental management plans, including erosion and sediment control, wildlife protection, and vegetation management.
- Coordinate with project management teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning, construction, and operation phases.
- Obtain and manage necessary environmental permits, approvals, and certifications from regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and report on environmental performance and compliance status of solar projects to internal teams and regulatory bodies.
- Lead efforts to mitigate environmental risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide expert advice and support on environmental best practices, sustainability initiatives, and emerging compliance requirements.
- Engage with local communities and stakeholders, addressing environmental concerns related to solar projects.
- Stay abreast of changes in environmental legislation and ensure the company remains compliant with evolving regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- in environmental compliance, specifically within the energy infrastructure / construction sector. Experience in the utility-scale solar market is highly desirable.
- of New York s environmental regulations and standards, as well as federal environmental policies.
- in agricultural practices and considerations in project development is preferred.
- project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
