JOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE: Classroom TeacherDEPARTMENT: InstructionalREPORTS TO: Assistant PrincipalDATE PREPARED/REVISED: August 1, 2023PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND POSITION OVERVIEWGlobal Community Charter School (GCCS) is a Harlem-based International Baccalaureate (IB) WorldSchool that is innovative, inquiry-based, culturally competent, and provides students with acomprehensive and rigorous curriculum that encourages critical and creative thinking.The Classroom Teacher is responsible for establishing and maintaining a classroom where the whole groupand small group instruction, discussion, projects, and cooperative work engage students, keep classesfocused, and infused a lasting desire to learn in all.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCoordinating knowledge of students, instructional content, and curricular resources to designdifferentiated units and lesson plans aligned to the Common Core standardsDifferentiates instruction for students as an integral aspect of planning and teaching andunderstands the Workshop Model in the design of instructionEvaluate academic achievement and progress toward learning objectives through detailed dataanalysis of student performance on a wide variety of metrics; Utilize student data collected todrive instruction and interventionBe accountable for students' mastery of academic standardsEngaging in coaching cycles and implementing research-based strategies that maximize theirown performance and that of their studentsReflecting on their own progress as educators and seeking out professional resources tocontinuously improve their practiceManaging student behavior and classroom routines to maximize learning time and create apositive classroom environmentAttending IEP meetings and ensuring appropriate accommodations are given to students duringassessmentsCompile and organize documentation for IEP meetingsActively participating in professional development workshops as laid out in the school andprofessional development calendarsSupervisor all class trips for the grade level, including school-sponsored overnight tripsCelebrating student achievement and progress in class and during school-wide IB PYP assembliesFoster meaningful relationships with students and parents that drive students to invest in theirlearning and making academic gainsModel, promote, and embody the International Baccalaureate learner profile to create a cohesiveschool culture of academic and personal successSupporting the school as directed by the Principal and Assistant Principal
