When driving for Home Delivered Meals, the driver is responsible for transporting home delivered meals for the Department s nutrition services program to clients in Tioga County. When driving for the Transportation program, the driver is responsible for driving individuals to medical or social services appointments, and to various locations to run errands throughout the Southern Tier region.Workweek is Monday Wednesday, 10am-2pm, Thursday and Friday availability varies (20-28 hours per week). The pay rate is $15.20/hr.Home Delivered Meals duties include:Load and transport food from the central kitchen to home delivered meals (HDM) clientsRemove equipment/debris daily; maintains and clean vehicles weeklyMaintain vehicle operation through daily maintenance checks and refuelingMaintain HDM meal temperature logAssist with end of day clean up in the nutrition programRecognizes conditions or circumstances that affect participants health and/or safety and makes referrals to department staff where appropriateComplies with the Safety and Health Policy Standards in all work situationsTransportation duties include:Assists with loading individuals into vehicle to transport to medical/social services appointments and other locations to run errandsUtilizes manual restraint system to safely secure wheelchairs in vehicleConfirms trips via designated application to track GPS for Medicaid tripsMinimum qualifications:Live within 25 miles of our headquarters (9 Sheldon Guile Blvd, Owego NY).Must be at least 21 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver s license, and have a level of experience acceptable to the AgencyAbility to follow oral and written directionsAbility to work well with othersPossession of Class E license or willingness to obtain upon hirePhysical condition commensurate with the demands of the positionAbility to use electronic tablet to track trips, GPS, mileage.Familiarity with Outlook email.Physical DemandsUtilizes vision to drive, read directions, street signs, etc.Lifts HDM containers before and after use, and deliveries of 40 poundsAssists in the lifting of deliveries more than 40 poundsWalks and carries HDM containers to and from central kitchen as well as to and from vehicle to client homesAbility to push wheelchair up ramp of vehicle as necessary; must be able to push/pull customer in wheelchair up slight ramp in van.
