A reputable nonprofit organization in the NYC area is seeking an experienced professional to join their staff as a Director of Social Services to assist overseeing one of their shelters in Queens. About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: Fully on site
- Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday, business hours
- Setting: Women's Shelter
Responsibilities: The Director of Social Services will be responsible for:
- Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff.
- Liaison with medical staff and psychiatric providers (both internal and external) to ensure appropriate service delivery for clients.
- Develop and implement a system to ensure that clients maintain their medication compliance on a weekly basis.
- Communicate with peers in other shelters on issues related to client progress and best practices.
- Work with direct reporting staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.
Qualifications:
- Three years of experience working in social services with a focus on housing/shelters
- 2+ years of leadership experience managing a team
- Experience working with mentally ill populations
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with those with chemical dependency
- Experience working with those with HIV/AIDS
