The mission of WHIN is to provide our diverse student populations with rigorous academic instruction, intensive music education, and a positive learning environment so that every student can thrive academically and personally. Founded in 2016, WHIN is the first school in the world that was founded on El Sistema, a distinctive social program that was founded in Venezuela that encourages youth to beassets within their community.SummaryWHIN is seeking a dynamic fundraising professional to serve as the school's inaugural Director of Development. The Director will work under the direction of the Founder & Executive Director to create and implement a comprehensive development plan that increases philanthropic support for WHIN, including funding from individual donors, foundation supporters, and corporate partners. The Director will serve as both a frontline fundraiser and a development strategist, with a keen ability to build and cultivate relationships leading to impactful contributions.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute winning fundraising strategies including an annual fundraising plan that enables WHIN to meet its annual goal of $1M+
  • Serve as a frontline fundraiser; make direct, face-to-face solicitations to secure private philanthropic support including major gifts at the 5- and 6- figure level
  • Deepen relationships and engagement with existing donors, scaling support through specific and tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship tactics
  • Identify and build connections with new and prospective donors leading to first-time gifts
  • Produce signature fundraising and donor stewardship events in coordination with staff and volunteers
  • Establish KPIs, measure and report on program progress and efficacy to senior management and the Board
  • Oversee the development budget and monitor expenses
  • Manage and leverage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including Salesforce CRM and wealth screening tools
  • Recruit, train, and support key volunteers and Board members to assist in advancement efforts
  • Communicate fundraising goals throughout the organization and equip staff and Board members to reach them by building an internal culture of philanthropy
  • Supervise part-time Development Manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 7-10 years of experience including donor portfolio management and development strategy
  • A proven ability to develop and execute successful development strategies to increase revenue across all fundraising verticals
  • Experience mentoring, coaching and managing development staff
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence from others
  • Self-starter with a proclivity toward action
  • Sound judgement and decision-making capabilities
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute at all levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Campaign experience a plus
  • Knowledge of CRM software required; Salesforce preferred
Additional Information
  • Salary range: $120,000 - $130,000 annually
