Director of Data Science

Our client, a curated marketplace for Gourmet Food & Food Gifts is looking for a Director of Data Science. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with the executive leadership to craft the long-term vision and strategy for the Data teams, encompassing data science, engineering, and analytics. Reporting directly to our Head of Engineering & Data, this role offers a unique opportunity to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our customers' journey through data-driven insights and solutions.

• This role is a FTE. Salary range: $200,000 - $300,000.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to developing our global data strategy and long-term vision, covering data science, engineering, and analytics.
• Collaborate closely with the Executive team to shape Product roadmaps.
• Implement experimentation strategies to enhance user engagement, product discovery, and UX.
• Establish and monitor KPIs to assess the effectiveness and outcomes of data science initiatives.
• Stay abreast of advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI.
• Demonstrate strong technical leadership by solving complex technical problems.
• Recruit and lead a top-tier team within the industry.

Qualifications:

• Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field; Ph.D. is advantageous.
• Over 6 years of experience leading and motivating high-performing teams.
• Minimum of 4 years of direct managerial experience.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing data science strategies that deliver tangible business results.
• Solid expertise in data modeling and analytics.
• Proficient in SQL, along with a scripting language like Python or R.
• Hands-on experience with search and recommendation systems.
• Familiarity with experimentation methodologies such as A/B testing and diff-in-diff experiments.
• Background in software engineering, machine learning engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
