Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence program, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City. Position Summary:The Director, Development is responsible for cultivation of major individual donors, new prospects, and institutional givers. Principal Responsibilities:
  • Identify and cultivate new $5,000+ major gift donors, including participating in strategic planning with senior staff.
  • Develop partnership and major gift proposals by targeting donors based on potential for giving and substantive interests.
  • Work with existing philanthropic and business partners to identify new prospects for solicitation and cultivating relationships.
  • Work closely with key thought leaders and top donors to identify new opportunities for strategic partnerships.
  • Initiate and conduct donor research. Create concise and accurate research profiles using an array of data (i.e. biographical information, philanthropic history, etc.).
  • Design and execute customized cultivation and solicitation strategies, matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor or prospect. Ensure necessary follow-up and stewardship.
  • Conduct face-to-face solicitations and secure new gifts from individuals.
  • Ensure donor and prospect communications and information are updated in Salesforce database.
  • Assist the Development team on special projects and events to such as yearly gala and golf outing.
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed.
  • Collect and report outcome metrics for the Managing Director, Development and prepare reports for the board of directors.
  • Create development and fundraising policies to follow industry best practices.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Skill and Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required).
  • 5 years of increasing responsibility in the areas of fundraising.
  • Proven track record in the execution of fundraising strategic plans, setting and meeting goals and management of comprehensive fundraising programs.
  • Experience working with Jewish communal leadership and an understanding of the regional differences in various donor communities.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation: $140,000 to $150,000 per year.Benefits: Major medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; pre-tax commuter benefits; FSA; 403(b) with employer contribution; plus generous vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
