As a **Direct Sales Representative** for the North Retail Cluster at DS Smith in the UK (which make corrugated packaging products predominantly for customers in the FMCG / E-Commerce and supply chain sectors), you will act as the primary internal point of contact for a defined customer base, working with internal and external teams to achieve business objectives and service goals.

The role will see you proactively manage a set of allocated customer accounts, overseeing current opportunities and developing new ones by cross selling the companys capabilities and by Value Selling. You will have daily contact with customers and prospects via telephone and email, ensuring all available trading opportunities are capitalised upon and you will want to build a professional network on Linkedin, to improve your social media profile and to capitalise on prospects, developing them into trading accounts. You will take a key role with incoming new accounts, ensuring excellent service and account management.

Daily tasks will include handling customer queries, developing opportunities, working processes with Customer and supplier e.g. VMI, liaising with other teams to meet requirements, utilising D&I for supporting projects, forecast analysis, project managing value creation whilst utilising the DS Smith Way of selling and the associated tools. You will be a member of the Sales, Marketing and Innovation External Sales team, and work closely with External Account Managers. Keeping information fully up to date within the company CRM system and supporting on account management, business development, tender management, and onboarding.

**About you**

*Minimum requirements:*

* Educated to A Level standard, or equivalent

* A track record of performing to a high level in a fast-paced customer service environment

* An excellent communicator, comfortable speaking with internal colleagues and external customers

* Able to demonstrate our core values: Caring, Challenging, Trusted, Responsive and Tenacious

* Comfortable using Microsoft Office

*Preferred requirements:*

* A working knowledge of SharePoint, CRM, Integrated Business and/or Telephony systems

* Exposure to a manufacturing environment
