Job Description:

Our client in the non-profit industry is looking for a Development Executive to work remotely. This is a free of charge day camp for children battling cancer. Since they are day camps, children can continue their medical treatment and enjoy the comfort and safety of their own homes at night. There are currently eight Day Camps three in New York (Long Island, Pearl River and Staten Island), three in Israel). In this dynamic role, the Development Executive (DE) reports directly to the Senior Director of Development and the National Director for the company. As a highly motivated fundraising professional, the DE is tasked with cultivating meaningful connections within the philanthropic and business spheres of Manhattan, Westchester, and Rockland counties. The primary objective is to garner support for Day Camp Pearl River and the overarching mission of the company. The candidate must live in Westchester, Rockland County or NJ area because there will be focused events that they will attend throughout the year.

  • Salary: 65k - 75k

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the development team (including WALKS/P2P team), volunteer leadership and committee members to strategize and execute successful fundraising events and campaigns
  • Collaborate closely with lay leaders, event committee members, and passionate supporters to raise mission awareness to benefit Day Camp Pearl River
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with current portfolio of supporters
  • Build a pipeline of major gift donors
  • Create opportunities for new relationships including individuals, companies, and foundations
  • Cultivate strong relationships within the philanthropic and business circles in Westchester, Rockland County and Manhattan to bolster support for initiatives
  • Manage current portfolio of grants, including grant writing and relationship building
  • Additionally, you will be expected to prospect for new grant opportunities
  • Understand and analyze year-over-year fundraising data, demonstrating flexibility to respond to changes as necessary to meet &/or exceed fundraising goals
  • This role demands a proactive and dynamic approach, requiring a keen ability to foster relationships, plan and execute events, and drive philanthropic support for the mission of the Day Camp

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of professional fundraising and development experience
  • Proven track record in successful fundraising within a non-profit or similar setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate diverse stakeholders, including volunteer leaders, donors, and committee members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to effectively convey the mission and impact of the company
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills, capable of developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies
  • Experience managing event committees and supporting honorees to achieve fundraising targets
  • Flexibility to work across various geographic areas and cultures, adapting fundraising approaches as needed
  • Candidate must be able to identify, cultivate, and engage new donors with significant philanthropic capacity via strategic outreach and action steps, including one-on-one discovery meetings and personalized engagement opportunities
  • Experience managing event committees and working with honorees to help them achieve/exceed fundraising goals
  • Ability to multitask and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable speaking in public to network, lead meeting and provide tours of camps throughout the summer
  • Energetic and passionate about the mission of the company
  • This hybrid role requires a blend of remote and in-person work. In-person work takes place at the National Headquarters in Oceanside, NY. During camp season, candidates should expect to regularly attend the Pearl River Day Camp for tours and volunteer days
  • Proficiency in budgeting, strategic planning, and marketing strategies
  • Position requires occasional evenings and weekends
