Principal Responsibilities:The Special Needs Services Department at JCC MetroWest in West Orange, NJ is searching for a part-time Day Habilitation Program Assistant.The Day Habilitation Program Assistant will work alongside a program leader with a group of adults having special needs in a dynamic community center setting.The program assistant will help to implement a schedule of activities at the JCC while serving as a role model and motivating participants to engage in both the activities and with their peers to strengthen their social and life experiences.This includes but is not limited to assisting participants in program activities, facilitation of appropriate social interactions, and primarily keeping each participant safe throughout the day.Supervised by the Program Director, Assistant Director, and Program Manager.SCHEDULE: Wednesdays from 8:45am - 2:45 pm, with substitute opportunities available.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist inimplementation of activities such as social games, gym activities,swimming, group discussions, lunch, etc.
- Supervision in familylocker rooms before and after swim.
- Maintain an effectivesystem of group management that encourages participants to haveappropriate interactions with peers and work towards individualoutcomes.
- Communicate regularlywith the Group Leader, Director and Assistant Director of Special NeedsServices regarding participant issues and needs for materials and suppliesto support the activities.
- Assistin daily documentation regardinghow participants are working towards their individualized goals through online software.
- Report ALL illnessesor injuries to the Group Leader.
- Escort groups to andfrom activities throughout the building and on trips.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Attend, participateand complete required staff trainings that will be offered throughout theyear.

Minimum Qualifications:- Must have a highschool diploma or GED certificate and be at least 21 years of age.

Salary:$20.50 per hour
