Tri State Specialties, LLC ( TSS ) is a family-owned confectionery topping producer in Long Island, NY. TSS produces sprinkles, nonpareils, confectionery shapes, and sanding sugars in Central America and imports the finished product to the US for distribution. TSS prides itself on offering a cost- competitive product while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Role Overview:

This is a full-time customs and logistics position located in our Long Island office working with a close-knit team. This role will be responsible for the import process from the moment our product leaves the factory through final delivery to the customer. Daily activities will include:

Role Responsibilities:

  • Customs Documentation: Prepare and submit accurate customs entries for import shipments, including classification, valuation, and entry summaries.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other relevant government agencies, such as FDA and USDA.
  • Tariff Classification: Properly classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) and other applicable tariff schedules.
  • Tracing and Tracking: Tracks orders and shipments through the entire delivery process and assist with tracing as needed.
  • Entry Review: Review customs entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations before submission.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all customs documentation and correspondence.
  • Government Liaison: Interface with U.S. Customs, FDA, and other government agencies as needed to resolve issues, respond to inquiries, and facilitate inspection release of shipments.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on changes in customs regulations, tariff updates, and industry best practices.
  • Delivery: Prepare delivery orders and other documentation related to freight releases and arrange final delivery to the warehouse and/or direct to customers.

Minimum requirements:

US Customs Broker certified

3+ years of importing / exporting experience, logistics, supply chain or another related field.

Familiar with US CBP and FDA import / export requirements.

In-depth knowledge of export and import operations, including documentation and preparation of bills of lading/delivery orders.

Computer savvy, including frequent prior use of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and Dropbox.

Excellent communication and client service skills.

Ability to multi-task.

Attention to detail.

Nice to have:

Fluent in Spanish
