**Duties**

** Summary**

Position is located in the Nutrition & Food Commissary at the St. Albans Community Living Center. The Cook/Motor Vehicle Operator will prepare food in an advanced food production unit and serve as driver delivering food to user sites.

**Responsibilities**

Duties can include but are not limited to the following:

+ Perform sanitation checks and maintain equipment.

+ Handle and store food according to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, USDA, FDA and safe serve guideline. Clean equipment, tables and floors on a daily basis or as needed.

+ Wrap final products and affix labels for storage.

+ Portion meat and seasoning for cook tank preparation.

+ Portion raw meat into mixtures for patty formation utilizing automated equipment.

+ Plan, prepare, coordinate the preparation of entire meals using special or difficult recipes.

+ Prepare a variety of food processing or cooking tasks for regular or special diets.

+ Perform yield testing or recipes.

+ Slice, grind, cut foods and weigh ingredients.

+ Mix ingredients from scratch for soups, broths, gravies, sauces and puddings.

+ Cook meats and vegetables, bake a variety of baked goods, cuts or trims meats.

+ Cook a variety of regular or special diet foods and meals.

+ Independently prepare all types of meats, poultry, vegetables, fruits, sauces and gravies for regular and modified diets.

+ Follow standard recipes.

+ Operate gasoline, diesel or electric powered wheel vehicles to haul cargo.

+ Travel over public roads and highways or under cross-county conditions.

+ Operate one or more vehicles which have an approximate gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds.

+ Work in cold environments with proper cold weather clothing.

+ Safely handle food products up to 40 pounds independently.

+ Safely push containers upwards of 100 pounds into delivery truck. **Work Schedule:** 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM Monday through Friday

**Physical Requirements:** Work involves extensive driving to the user sites including loading, transporting carts and off loading deliveries at each user site. Work requires continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

The work is perform in kitchen area which are well lighted but are often hot and noisy. The incumbent is expose to steams, odors and fumes from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerator or freezing units. There is danger on slipping on wet floors that have been recently moped ot food that has been spilled. Subject to possible cut with knives and burns from steams , hot foods, hot stoves, hot grease and water. Work is also conducted as a driver in the New York Metropolitan Area,
