Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Communications Coordinator provides administrative support to his/her direct supervisors, as well as to other members of the Communications team, as required. Responsibilities include assisting with various external and internal communications, including the firm's public relations initiatives through day-to-day intake, drafting and editing of intranet content; drafting and posting content to social media channels and the firm's website; media and social media monitoring; clips and reporting; updating and maintaining key information systems (including media tracker and editorial awards and rankings tracker); drafting and submitting multiple editorial award submissions and surveys; and assisting with other marketing, communications and business development projects as requested.JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Manager of Media Relations and works closely with all members of the Communications team.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary
  • Supports all aspects of proactive and reactive media relations, including scheduling and coordinating media interviews, creating reporter backgrounders, interacting with reporters on a case-by-case basis, drafting press releases, and matter promotion.
  • Writes and edits news items for internal and external platforms; coordinates with various practice groups and operational departments to maintain accurate intranet content; updates content on various sections of the intranet platform; updates and maintains content on the firm's website - including media mentions, articles, press releases, rankings, and accolades sections; assists in producing firm newsletters.
  • Drafts and obtains approval of various posts for sharing to social media, including assisting in putting together graphics for the posts.
  • Conducts diligent media and social media monitoring and reporting and shares select coverage with relevant attorneys.
  • Compiles, finalizes approvals, and distributes daily media mentions and weekly press highlights emails and other reports.
  • Helps with drafting editorial awards submissions and surveys as needed.
  • Updates and circulates editorial, media, and due dates calendar on an ongoing basis.
  • Updates media lists regularly.
  • Updates media trackers and creates media reports on a regular basis.
  • Provides administrative and project implementation support to his/her direct report and other members of the Communications team, as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:Education: A 4-year college degree required in public relations/communications, journalism, professional writing, or related field.Experience: 1-3 years prior experience in a professional environment required. Experience working at an agency is preferred though not required.Skills and Abilities:

Job Specific Skills: A demonstrated interest in public relations and marketing. Strong writing and proofreading skills. Strong customer service orientation. Professional telephone manner. Open to learning about various industries the firm serves.Attendance: All positions require punctuality and regular in office attendance. Technological Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Word. Familiarity with Sharepoint and iManage is preferred but not required. Proficiency with social media platforms required. Database skills preferred. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and Sprout Social preferred but not required.The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.New York Salary Range$55,000-$65,000 USD
