JOB SUMMARY

The Coding Coordinator is responsible for ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding of procedures performed at all service sites based only on the Radiologists written report

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains consistent daily workflow patterns.
  • Meets subsidiary standard of coding required number of charges including ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes.
  • Meets quality of standards of subsidiary.
  • Communicates as required with the radiologists when the report does not contain enough code-able data.
  • Reads and interprets accurately and efficiently all medical documentation to identify all diagnoses, conditions, problems or other reasons for the physician-patient visit.
  • Assess the adequacy of medical records documentation to ensure it supports the diagnoses, conditions, problems or other reasons for the physician-patient visit.
  • Informs Coding Team Leader or National Coding Manager of conflicting or ambiguous information appearing on reports. Follows all compliance plan standards.
  • Follows all team policies and related procedures.
  • Supports the objectives of the Reimbursement Operations.
  • Applies knowledge to assign accurate codes to each individual procedure and diagnosis, condition, problem or other reason.
  • Remains current with ICD-10 and CPT-4 code changes, coding guidelines and coding updates.
  • Applies knowledge for coding principles of Corrective Coding Initiative (CCI).
  • Promotes the practice within the team. Cooperates to help other personnel as needed in the spirit of teamwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a problem solver who is detail oriented.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to multitask and work effectively both independently and with others.
  • Working knowledge of computers, including Outlook, MS Word and Excel.
  • Must possess and maintain one of the following national coding certifications: Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC - A) or Registered Records Administrator (RRA) or Accredited Record Technician (ART) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P).
  • The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by High School diploma or GED and satisfy one of the following requirements: pass coding department entry-level exam, Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Records Administrator (RRA) or Accredited Record Technician (ART) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P).
  • A Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) credential is required within 2 years of hire date. Non-RCC coders must sit for the Radiology Certified Coder exam within the 1st year of employment.
  • One to two years of prior coding experience in a medical billing environment preferably in radiology.

Follows OSHA regulations, RadNet and site protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Follows HIPAA, compliance, privacy, safety and confidentiality standards at all times.
  • Practices universal safety precautions.
  • Promotes good public relations on the phone and in person.
  • Adapts and is willing to learn new tasks, methods, and systems.
  • Reports to work regularly as scheduled; consistently punctual with respect to working hours, meal and rest breaks, and maintains satisfactory personal attendance in accordance with RadNet guidelines.
  • Consistently adheres to the time management policies and procedures.
  • Completes job responsibilities in a quality and timely manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling, constant talking, and hearing. Visual acuity to read computer screens and written materials. Also, must be able to lift over 10 pounds, occasionally.

Pay Range:USD $20.00 - USD $26.00 /per hourShift:Flexibility RequiredShift Variations:M-F
