To learn more about Berry, visit POSITION SUMMARY: The Coating and Mixing Supervisor, as direct representative of Berry Global and extension of the Plant Director, has managerial and operational responsibilities. This position is accountable for the implementation of ALL assigned shift Safety, Environmental,6S practices, quality requirements as well as the manufacturing of products within the coating department that meet customer and internal qualifications with regard to quality and timelines. As a member of the management team, the Coating Supervisor provides input and demonstrates leadership to support the department's operating plans and strategies oriented to maximize asset productivity and KPI's: % MEEF and % EFF. Leads and directs people to perform assigned job duties, adheres to performance expectations, and timely execution of job instructions, MOP's and Operating systems in general. Salary Compensation: $75,000-$85,000 DOE Responsibilities SAFETY Assists in the establishment, execution and leadership of ALL plant safety objectives. Rigorously enforce all safety rules and regulations. Ensures compliance to site EHS policies, programs and procedures. Actively promotes participation of ALL shift personnel in GDC, BBS and 6S programs, identifying near miss and observations from the assigned shift. Coordinates and tracks completion of GDC corrective actions. Leads by example in the Leadership Team's '5S Squad' initiatives to promote healthy, safe, and productive work environment. This individual is responsible for work safety, good manufacturing practices and environmental protection awareness with special preventive attention given to fire and explosion hazards. Ensure employees are following job safety analysis reports and confronts any unsafe acts observed. Implements disciplinary action as required. In Coordination with EHS, trains their operating personnel on all pertinent EHS documentation according to the site EHS training program. Visibly engaged in the implementation and follow up to the front-line leadership programs. Prepare or participate in safety and incident reporting when appropriate. Required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team with training required in the following: Emergency Response Fire Extinguisher. First responders. (First Aid/CPR/BBP) Blood borne pathogens. PERSONNEL Ensure that department staffing is properly organized, trained, motivated and supervised so that people understand company standards/policies/principles and work towards targets and goals. Responsible for the leadership development of Line Leads, Back Up Line Leads, and Back Up Supervisors. Lead, counsel, train and develop team members on Safety, Quality and Operations in line with the asset leader or designated process engineer. Initiate, document and deliver any required disciplinary actions for team members in a timely and professional manner. Conduct periodic performance, skills and talent / experience reviews for team members as completion of training takes place and in accordance with HR policies. Develop personnel through one-on-one review sessions, training and project assignments to utilize their potential and build qualified back-ups for key positions including his/her own. Responsible for individual and team compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Monitor employee performance, conduct personnel evaluations, reprimand individuals, if necessary and initiate termination procedures if appropriate. Provides timely coaching and feedback to team members, identifying gaps in training while ensuring adherence to job instructions, checklist and SOP's Resolve conflicts among team members and refer issues to higher authority when needed, documenting all necessary information in a detailed and timely manner in support of formal investigations. Track and manage attendance data for team members. Identify shop floor manning opportunities to minimize overtime requirements within the shift. Conduct and manage Shift Handover Meetings, Natural Work Team meetings and other required coordinating team meetings. QUALITY Maintain required internal quality certifications. Establish, promote and maintain a culture of KAIZEN continuous improvement, quality, high performance and process excellence. Ensures total compliance to process, product specifications, labeling, quality audits, and GMP. Co responsible for the department's compliance with the company's ISO 9000 certification requirements. Monitor quality and make recommendations on when to stop production based on material being out of specification in conjunction with the Process Engineering and Quality Departments. Actively participate in root cause analysis sessions, Kaizen events and other improvement strategies. Serve as a resource to Process Engineers and Plant Leadership in resolving customer complaints. PRODUCTION Coordinate quick response to any line outages by communicating with management, maintenance, internal teams, and quality. Assist in troubleshooting and line restart. Establish team and individual accountabilities for problem solving and cost reduction. Address any identified gaps in line production and ensures or follow ups on its resolution. Responsible for the accurate reporting of asset quality, productivity and other required KPI metrics. Positively communicate changes in business situations, production schedules, and company policies. Attend downtime meetings, schedule meetings, safety meetings, asset meetings, safety reviews and down day planning meetings. Responsible for the accurate completion of all paperwork including but not limited to production and downtime reports, incident reports, follow up to checklists and other special routines. Ensure compliance to Paperwork Routing Process and records management. Ensure the department is operating in accordance with company principle/policies/guidelines. Ensure the department's assets are utilized and maintained optimally to yield products that meet quality and cost standards. Provide input for improvements and/or capital investments to achieve/maintain quality productivity levels. Maintain production schedules, coating records and raw material usage as required. Participate fully in appropriate task committees. Initiate all required purchases and work orders. Perform a variety of other tasks of equal or lesser complexity as assigned. Qualifications The individual should have the ability to read and write in English. The individual should be a high school graduate. The individual should have at least 5 years hands-on experience in the coating industry. Must possess strong leadership and people development skills. Basic computer skills are a must. Advanced education in a related field is a plus.
