SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries.The CMM Programmer/Operator provides accurate dimensional analysis of products, using various inspection tools and equipment for an Engineering Product Development Center. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operate all typical inspection equipment, including automated CMM for the measurement of complex geometries.
  • Ability to program Zeiss CMM is a big plus.
  • Provide inspection support and analysis for Engineering Department
  • Read and comprehend complex geometry defined on engineering drawings or CAD models.
  • Utilize CAD designs for the purpose of performing dimensional analysis on components and assemblies.
  • Create and utilize inspection programs.
  • Control the calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Recommend fixture / part holding requirements to Tool Design team members.
  • Maintains inspection records and other related documents.
  • Willing to be trained in other product testing procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires good math and geometry skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
  • A.S.Q.C. certified mechanical inspector is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years Quality Assurance / Inspection experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
ADA Requirements:
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; reviewing detailed information; viewing a computer terminal; and expansive reading.
  • Ability to work for extended periods sitting and looking at computer while completing repetitive motions to include substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The ability to manage a number of projects at one time with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines.
  • Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, and Hearing.
The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000- $80,000. Please note that the salary range provided on the job posting does not include potential bonuses and other forms of compensation and, in some cases, may fall outside the range.
