Job Description:

The Global Neurosurgery Laboratory at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator/Clinical Instructor (HS) for an innovative academic practice. Successful applicants will enjoy working with a diverse, multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and trainees to manage a growing clinical, translational and global health research enterprise.

The Clinical Research Coordinator will report directly to the Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Neurology, Orthopaedic Surgery and Public Health, and Founding Director of the Downstate Global Neurosurgery Laboratory (DGNL. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Working with DGNL Director to create and manage DGNL research databases.

* Initiating and/or assisting with preparation of research protocols.

* Initiating and/or assisting with grant writing and literature review as needed.

* Attending training workshops as needed for development of skills relevant to research protocols.

* Working with DGNL Director to prepare agenda for research meetings.

* Keeping minutes and/or assuring keeping minutes for all research meetings.

* Preparing and submitting IRB applications.

* Obtaining informed consent for human subjects' research.

* Managing communications with research participants.

* Working with administrative staff to manage communications with collaborators, statisticians and other research faculty/staff.

* Working with DGNL director to oversee medical students and graduate student researchers who work in the laboratory, or with the laboratory.

* Managing international research collaborations.

* Assisting with systematic and scoping review education, support and publication.

* Developing and overseeing biospecimen acquisition and biobanking maintenance pathways.

* Keeping and regularly updating DGNL research calendar, especially regarding intramural meetings, symposia, national/international scientific meetings, and international projects/events.

Required Qualifications:

* A minimum of a Masters-level clinical research-related degree (MS in Neuroscience, MPH, MSN, MSCR or equivalent).

* Demonstrated interest in Clinical Neuroscience (Neurosurgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, etc.) is required.

* 3+ years of previous experience as a clinical research coordinator.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Excellent interpersonal skills.

* Superior organizational and time management skills.

* Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

* Skilled with standard computer programs, including the MS Office Suite.

* Understanding of medical terminology.

* Understanding of standard clinical procedures and protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

* MD or other clinical research-related Doctoral Degree strongly preferred (PhD, DNP, etc.)

* Demonstrated interest and/or experience in public health and/or global health is strongly preferred.

* Spoken/written proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus.

* Spoken proficiency in Haitian-Creole is strongly preferred.

* Experience in statistics/quantitative research analysis is a plus.

* Experience in mixed methods and/or qualitative research analysis is preferred.

* Fervent desire to grow with the laboratory and develop an academic/research career.
