Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - 401k Plan Auditor Remote (must reside in the United States for tax purposes) $70-100/hr, depending on experience J. Morrissey's client is a leading provider of financial consulting services, specializing in auditing employee benefit plans for a diverse range of clients. We are seeking a skilled Certified Public Accountant (CPA) candidate to join our team on a contract basis, with a focus on auditing employee benefit plans, particularly 401k plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public accounting and employee benefits plans (EBP) audits and be capable of conducting thorough and efficient audits in a remote setting. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct audits of employee benefit plans, primarily focusing on 401k plans, ensuring compliance with different federal and local regulatory requirements and policies.
  • Review financial statements, plan documents, and other relevant materials to assess the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed testing of plan transactions, contributions, distributions, and investment activities to identify any discrepancies or irregularities.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with clients and team members, providing clear explanations and guidance on corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to streamline audit processes, enhance efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards in deliverables.
  • Occasionally perform audits of 403b plans for non-profit organizations, adapting audit procedures as necessary to accommodate specific regulatory frameworks.
Requirements:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on auditing.
  • Proficiency in auditing employee benefit plans, especially 401k plans.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues
