Description:Catering Operations Manager Job DescriptionThe Catering Operations Manager will be a top-performing, solutions-driven hospitality professional with experience in coordinating dining and catering operations, customer relations and employee team supervision. The Catering Operations Manager will be decisive and results-oriented with outstanding leadership and crisis management skills; an engaging, professional communicator with the ability to put others at ease, quickly building relationships based on mutual trust and benefit; excel in high-pressure and high-stress environments; meet and exceed goals and objectives.The Catering Operations Manager is the main client contact for the day of the event. They work alongside the Banquet Operations Manager and with the Culinary Team to ensure the proper coordination of all food and beverage functions held in all Banquet and Meeting rooms while keeping with the standards set by Lessing's Hospitality Group and Pelican Club. This position must provide the highest level of service to our guests. Primary focus with planning and executing via front of house activities and service.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeadershipAssist with training and development of event staff; provide constructive feedback as neededHold staff accountable to Pelican Club guidelines and policiesBe a leader to the team; create a positive work environment and maintain company cultureSolve any issues that may arise (guests, staff, maintenance, etc.)Be responsive to customer complaints or inquiriesPlanningAssist in the planning of events including preparing the diagrams, and timeline/flow of event from setup with vendors to conclusion and teardownAttend tastings - build rapport with clients; prepare notes and photos; keep organized and distribute with BEO for accuracyReview details on Wedding Homework to ensure all details are communicated on BEOAttend BEO meetings; ensure captains have updated BEOs with changes the day of the eventCoordinate with vendors prior to event for final details and load-in/out informationo Distribute the vendor load-in/out event guideline and ensure it's being followedo Greet vendors upon arrival and reconfirm event detailsUnderstand and be able to communicate catering menu details and pricing as neededOperationsOpen and prepare building for day of eventConduct walk-thru to ensure building and grounds are clean and free of debrisAssist with scheduling any maintenance needed for the property as neededMeet with the captains prior to pre-shift to review BEO details; Attend full pre-shift with event teamGreet clients upon arrival; main point of contact for the client(s)Oversee Bridal AttendantAssist with Ceremony execution as neededWork with Banquet Operations Manager to execute and manage day of event; ensure flow per BEO details Prepare event report critiquing details of each event; to be kept on fileFinancialContribute to achievement of budgeted food sales, beverage sales and labor costsForecast and maintain inventory in a cost-efficient mannero Monthly Inventory (beverage and paper products) conducted at the end of each period; prepare and enter inventory; GM to approve before submitted.Ordering - Handle weekly orders for all alcohol and non-alcoholo track what's needed for each event (review BEOs in advance)o maintain a par MiscellaneousComply with safety and sanitation regulations; specifically, all current COVID regulationsConduct site visits when neededOther duties as assigned by GMRequirementsCollege degreeProficient in English; Spanish is a plusExtensive Food and Beverage knowledgeEvent sales and/or event planning backgroundPrevious experience in similar job role or minimum 4 years' experience as Banquet Supervisor or Conference Services ManagerExperience in Hotel/Event management software and Point of Sale softwareExperience or good working knowledge of inventory practices and ordering systemsCash handling and basic math / financial calculationsAbility to work any day/shift; evenings, weekends, and holidaysAble to work ten hour-plus shifts plus the ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of timeAble to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds as neededAble to withstand changes in temperature, occasional steam, heat and work in a confined areaMaintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearanceServeSafe CertifiedFirst Aid Training and CPR Certification preferredSkillsCustomer serviceRefined CommunicationBeing a leader, delegating tasks, guide and motivate a teamDetail-oriented, accurate and efficientMaintaining high-level of service standardsManaging timeCalm demeanorSMILE!Salary Range (NY only): $80,000 - $120,000
