Do you have a passion for working with individuals to help them reach self-sufficiency, minimize poverty and help them successfully make a new home in the United States? Do you have a case management background and the demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with refugees and immigrants? If so, then this full-time position provides a unique and rewarding opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of many.WHAT YOU'LL DOIn this role, you'll assist our refugee clients gain access to medical, psychiatric, social, employment, educational, psychological and other essential services and navigate local systems during the initial resettlement period. You'll help them to access resources, achieve objectives and maximize their independence and productivity and advocate on their behalf, working to resolve problems that may prevent their access to needed services. In working with your clients, you may be needed to coordinate interpretation and translation services. Other times, you'll arrange provider appointments and provide transportation when necessary. In all cases, you'll be promoting client rights and access to social services, social security, mental health, and other support services. Equally important, however, are keeping accurate documentation, maintaining case note logs, and completing (and monitoring!) all required reporting forms and case records. For this reason, you must not only have proficient communication skills but must also have excellent writing skills, computer competence and attention to detail.WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a human services related discipline
  • One year of case management in providing direct services to refugees and immigrants
  • Knowledge of community resources in the Niagara region for refugees and immigrants
  • Informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to clients
  • Strong Internet research and computer skills, especially with Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Data management and reporting as required by funding sources
  • Familiar with and appreciative of issues related to people with diverse cultures and languages
  • Proficient verbal & written communication skills for interactions and for documentation

Since this position requires work in the community, you must have a reliable vehicle, clean driver's license and required liability insurance levels of $100/$300k.
