Fulton will provide 140 beds of transitional reentry housing to formerly incarcerated men who would otherwise be homeless after discharge from a correctional facility. Fulton will also provide onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment, health, and substance use disorder treatment. The facility operates 365 days on a 24-hour basis daily, including evening and weekend hours (some positions will require non-traditional work hoursWe seek a full-time CASAC Counselor to join our Fulton Team. The CASAC Counselor will employ evidence-based approaches to support the participant in successfully navigating the recovery process. Osborne Association's mission is to engage past, or current Criminal Justice involved individuals to fully participate in a recovery process by which they improve health and wellness, family connectivity, and social, economic, and community engagement. This position will serve the participant by employing trauma-informed care in developing treatment planning and partnering with the participant to develop participant-centered goals.Salary range: $30.22- $31.32 hourlyRequirementsEssential Duties:
  • Orient participants to what is offered at community outpatient substance use treatment clinics by describing program objectives and providing ongoing guidance and educational material to participants.
  • Engage participants using Evidence-Based Practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
  • Provide excellent Telehealth and In-Person individual and group services.
  • Actively support and encourage program participation, documenting progress and providing ongoing dialogue with the participant toward realizing their recovery continuum goals.
  • Provide Person-Centered counseling to the participant through active crisis intervention, individual sessions, group support, and case management. Share observations, documentation, and assessments of individual participants with their Supervisor at regularly scheduled supervision sessions.
  • Support participants in understanding the benefit of Medication Assisted Treatment and maintaining connections to care.
  • Understand that recovery is a continuum and support the participant at every stage of their journey, including harm reduction, relapses, and relapse prevention.
  • Increase participants' adaptive coping and problem-solving skills by exploring alternative solutions to problems and increasing decision-making capacities.
  • Assist participants in gaining insight into the disease of addiction by planning educational interventions specific to the impact of substance use.
  • Maintain contacts with outside agencies to refer or obtain additional participant services.
  • Report outcomes of toxicology results to the immediate supervisor for clarity and clinical guidance. Responsible for the signing of toxicology requisition forms necessary as part of the chain of possession protocols for supervising, handling, and sealing of participant toxicology samples.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • OASAS certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is required
  • Four years of directly related work experience in an OASAS Certified Substance Use Disorder Outpatient Treatment program
  • Experience working with DHS and EHR preferred
Key Competencies:
  • Must fully understand and embrace MAT and Harm Reduction
  • Excellent assessment, treatment planning, and problem-resolution skills are necessary
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Suite
  • Must understand the criminal justice system, including ATI and parole/probation
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
