Job Description:

We are seeking a Cannabis Operations Safety Coordinator who will serve as the key support administrator for all cannabis operations and handle administrative functions for the General Manager of Cannabis Operations. They are a resourceful self-starter who is people-oriented and service-oriented, extremely organized, excels at juggling multiple projects, and is comfortable working with teams across multiple functions. The Safety Coordinator will be expected to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with staff and teams across Oneida Indian Nation, and various vendors. The Safety Coordinator will report to the GM of Cannabis Operations. This on-site position is based in Verona, NY. Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement OHSA policies and programs.
  • Advise and lead team members on various safety-related topics.
  • Prepare educational seminars and safety onboarding for team members.
  • Review existing policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all the rules and regulations.
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee onboarding process for safety.
  • Conduct risk assessment
  • Enforce preventative measures.
  • Maintain and update SDS books.
  • Check if all the team members are acting in adherence to rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations, and any other work that could harm team members' safety.
  • Oversee safety procedures and protocols for the Verona Collective manufacturing facility as well as The Verona Collective Retail locations.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety preferred, not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office
  • Working knowledge of safety management information system
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
