We are seeking a Cannabis Extraction Lab Manager for our Cannabis department, Verona Collective. As the Cannabis Extraction Lab Manager, you will be responsible for all facets of the extraction suite and formulations lab including but not limited to hiring, training, and developing highly skilled team members, defining and organizing team member roles and responsibilities, evaluating team member performance and assessments, documenting operational tasks and SOPs, and reporting lab performance on a regular and routine cadence to upper-level management.
The Cannabis Extraction Lab Manager is also responsible for the strategic oversight of product portfolio and R&D enhancement opportunities presented by extraction techniques, including volatile hydrocarbon extraction, CO2, and other potential extraction techniques that may be utilized by Verona Collective in the future.

Salary Range: $82,700-$99,200/year

Responsibilities:
- Planning, directing, organizing, and controlling the overall laboratory including all analytical or microbial methods performed, regulatory compliance, data management, implementation of new technology, and related work as required
- Developing and implementing KPI'S to measure performance
- Developing and maintaining laboratory policy and procedure manuals, quality procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP's), equipment specific requirements, and evaluating and implementing new procedures as necessary
- Working at the licensed site and assuming all responsibility for testing activities
- Formulations for all dabbable materials, vape cartridges and disposables, and any other product formulations as needed.
- Preparing and/or reviewing regulatory, managerial, and operational reports
- Ensuring that team members are appropriately recruited, including hiring, training, daily coaching and oversight, and performance assessments
- Overseeing facility improvements and maintenance to improve efficiency and safety
- Prioritizing objectives and tasks, implementing plans, and allocating resources to achieve the long-term goals of the Laboratory
- Helping the Kitchen Manager with production needs and formulations as appropriate and assigned
Requirements:
- Experience working with volatile extraction is REQUIRED
- Experience in the manufacturing of distillate is REQUIRED
- Experience working with C02 extraction is preferred
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a diverse set of personalities and learning styles.
- Ability to motivate a team and strong leadership qualities are required.
- Must be 21 years or older
- Ability to work with and direct a team
- Ability to stand on feet for up to 10 hours
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or 5 years of experience working in a cannabis laboratory.
- Experience in cannabis extraction, preferably in both technical and leadership roles
- Experience with testing and formulations in the cannabis industry
- Experience managing outside labs for testing
- Experience with ERP tracking software
- Ability to create reports and track and develop KPI'S
- Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies
- An effective leader with a healthy balance of firm accountability and empathy who can make the hard decisions objectively and nurture a sense of ownership with team members at all levels
